So I have a few hundred bolts and nuts that need to be derusted (better word?), and then protected from further rust. I'm guessing electroplating is the best option? And how to derust? I don't really want to go the vinegar route, as that requires about 24hrs. Problem is, I don't want to put the whole lot of bolts in together, I don't think I'll be able to figure out where each goes afterwards. So I want to do a few at a time, e.g. waterpump bolts, then manifold bolts, then mounting bolts, etc. etc.
Apparently deoxidene works well, but neither my local Mica nor Chamberlains have stock... it seems there's a problem getting hold of it.
So, how to derust?
And how to (cheaply) electroplate or something at home?
