@Mikie and I had spoken about doing this particular route some time back as we both wanted to ride the Kamanassie road. I've also been itching to ride Prince Alfreds Pass as the only time I've ridden it before was the Karoo to Coast mtb event about 20 years ago...in the rain ( views = 0 ) The route consisted of very very minimal tar road.

So, yesterday we klapped it. We could not have wished for better weather....it was perfect. I measured 311 kms when I got home....it was really good and we both concurred that it was 'needed'.

1st Pic - Angies...finally I get to see this famous place.
2nd Pic - Angies on the Keurbooms river.
3rd Pic - the view point looking towards Knysna ( it was actually visible ) I had a bit of a 'moment' on the gnarly climb going up there and ended up off the 2 spoor in the mini-donga on the lowside, grabbed brakes only to realise my ABS was still on and got a hard lever and then " Ka-tunk" from the front end. No smiley...no flat....must have been my forks bottoming out...hard.

Thanks @Chrisl for answering my questions on the said roads. Your knowledge of this area is admirable.

Nice Simon! Such a lekker route that. If you mirror image that route to the east there is also similar fun to be had, including the road to the bottom of Rooiberg. 👍🏻

Looks like a fantastic ride! Definitely one for the 'must do one day' folder...
Nice pics too.

Thanks @Kobus Myburgh but you mean "to the west" ? Rooiberg is west of George...but thanks, it looks lekka!

Thanks for starting this rider report, @EssBee
I had a seriously lekka ride its been a while since i have felt so one and comfortable with my bike.
The route was good, 309km according to my GPS.
And all amazing dirt as well, well until after Angies G-Spot that is.
The R329 after Angies via Diepwalle and Kom se pad is pretty rough, many potholes, we both felt sorry for our bikes through there, but in my mind, throwing my weight to the rear and pinning it was just keeping my front light and I was still having a jol with less chance of messing up my front rim anywhere.

I still want to do this route in the reserve to how we did it this time, get the rough bit out of the way first and breeze through the rest.
We did have one incident, that I am still laughing about.

Nearing the end of Kom se Pad coming over a rise I was met with an old Golf 4 SW and people frantically flagging me down to stop.
5 adults, 3 seniors and 2 I would say Millenials in their 20's
The millenial asked me if I have Duct tape, which I didnt but I asked what for?
They hit a rock and put a hole in the cars sump, I told him that there is no way Duct tape is going to work, one of the seniors was under the car and as he got back out he proudly stated that he had put bubblegum in the hole, I smiled and politely told them that there is no way either of those will work, if anything Pratley steel would, but we didnt have any, also they had no oil, so even if fixed they were still going nowhere.
I advised them to get a tow, and also advised them to not attempt to drive out of there as they would wreck the engine.

Duct Tape or bubblegum to fix a hole in your sump, I think I have heard it all now 🤣
The next ride is already being planned in my head, will have to twist SImons arm again to drag him along, he might be upset with me after my detour over the Red Bridge caused him to put a dent in his Exhaust Can.

Here is a screenshot of the route that we took
