Dave bought himself KLR on Thursday and has never been on an adventure ride. He calls his fugly clitorus650 because of its color.
Hennie our mate who owns the new KTM planed a nice tame but fast dirt track outing to hook Dave into the adventure riding spirit and to encourage me to tag along a ride on his baby so I can see/feel the difference between my GSA and the 990 KTM
Friday afternoon we gathered at Grunters Sundays river and headed to Zuurberg, Anne’s Villa and finally to our camp The Stable S33 10.373 E25 38.009. I highly recommend it as a stay over. Their number is 0829534891
Dave was in heaven with the first stage with him gliding through the twisties, hopping over the technical areas. 8)
We parked our machines at the stable and since Dave was the youngest and we had him make the fire and braai after we chilled with a frosty. :thumleft:
Outside the stable our horses.KLR=30-40 HP, GSA=105HP, KTM 120-130HP,
They were ready for Saturday as we were stopping of at Darlington dam and then racing the R400 dirt road track to the Janesville mohair festival. The R400 has long straight sections, couple of bends some awesome drifts all awesome for low level flying, the speed we collected varied from 140 to 210 on our GPSs.
The outside temperature at the dam up to Janesville was averaging between 40 -42 degrees.
Hennie is a master rider and he gave his KTM to ride and told me this puppy enjoys being in the 9000 RPM side of life, hell we pulled away flat taps and when I looked in the mirrors for Hennie he was over 300meters behind me, wow this is the most exhilarating ride I’ve had for a long time. I love the suspension and power of this baby.
My GSA is perfect for the trips I do and I believe there is space for one more machine in the near future just for those 300km destroy all stress rides.
Here are a couple of photos of our breaking Dave in adventure riding.
