Did not get there safely. Had accident. Left knee status questionable. Was size of watermelon.  Just strapped and rested for a while, then did 2 days hard riding. At Kariba now. Headin for Zim tomorrow..

Tanzania trip is over and I am back home in PE. Total of 12800km done, well short of the 17000km I hoped to do. The knee injury accident and Ebola outbreak put paid to my quest to reach Rwanda, but now there may be something to look forward to for the future, who knows? For now though, it is a matter of trying to adjust back to normal life. It is sh........ terrible. I can easily pack and leave again tomorrow.

Saw the specialist, MRI on Tuesday, but there will definitely be reconstructive surgery done on the knee before the end of the year.

I am sequencing all the photographs, over 5000 of them, so that I can start with the full Ride Report.

Looking at the photos, it is difficult to think that on the 9th of July, I did a final test ride on Bumble Bee and the morning of the 10th I packed her up in the garage before setting out to JJ Children's Haven in Alexandria to officially start my trip to Tanzania.

Suppose I had better get started..............then they broke into my house and stole my laptop, etc, so now it is going to take another while to try and get it done.

I'm a bit rusty with this, so just want to do a bit of a trial run with this photo to minimize doing everything twice. Photo taken on the way to Bethulie, methinks.

Came across this every day scenario in South Africa. Truck fell and it is a free for all shopping spree with the cops just watching.

11 Aug.
Arrived at Wilde Sering Lodge outside Cullinan. Belongs to a mate. Staying here a few days before heading to Botswana. My son came to visit from JHB and we spent some great times together.

It was great to have my son there and to have him experience some bush time away from the concrete jungle. Of course, there will always be a braai.

He also experienced a hunt, and although he did not hunt, he was given the opportunity to watch, handle a rifle and do some target shooting. He was quite chuffed with himself.

And then, assisting his old man with some electronic challenges. Repeatedly.
