I?ve had several complaints (well, more comments) that the headlight of the GS bounces wildly when riding some uneven terrain. However, when you feel the instrument section, it feels pretty secure. When taking the bike for a pre-Nam checkup and spoke to the mechanic about this, he showed me that the two brackets that hold the instrument and lights assembly to the frame, has broken off. The choice was then to spend mega moola to have it fixed, or do it myself (with a lot of help from my friends).

Here are the brackets seen from the top:

And from the bottom

Both Scribble and Kaboef offered to help, but in the end, Kaboef said there will be beers and that one can see the telly from the garage. Thanks for the offer to help though, Scribble.

Jip, you gotta remove the battery terminals before you start, and on these machines, you have to at least loosen the tank to get to the bloody things.

Some bike porn:

Covering what needs to be covered against the sparks, earthing what needs to be earthed ? Kaboef starts to weld, while I?m holding a Windhoek, ready to extinguish any flames using Kaboef?s beer standing to my right.

This guy is a pro:

Knock-knock. Who?s there?

Whata boykie!!!

And some makeup:

A few more Windhoeks, and voila!

Pieter, I cannot thank you enough. It seldom happens that I?m left without spare screws.
