Transkei - Kei Mouth to Port St Johns December

I am planning my December trip - as per Jupiters' Travels, on my own - and so far all planning is going well - except: I need some info on the stretch between Kei mouth and Port St Johns. Is it worthwhile, is there fuel available, places to stay etc etc etc.

Any recent info will be good!
