TVB, Chris & Juda Planning a ride in Western Cape:
Hello folks
Yes it's that time of the year and a trip with my son and our friend in the Western/Northern Cape in the making.
Please advice on places to stay, camp and not to miss.
I suck at planning; I'm a bit impulsive but feel a bit more responsible when I'm with loved ones and time is a bit of an issue, this trip will have to start on the 18th and end on the 24th when we hope to be back in Brits.
So what my so really wants to see and plan around:
DAY:
1: (18 Dec) This will be a long day in the saddle on tar to get roughly in the vicinity where we plan to start riding
We were thinking Brits to Augrabies, sleep over and be at the fall fist thing day 2 - Do anyone knows if they still allow you to enter with a bike to see the falls?
2: (19 Dec) At Augrabies and now to Nieuwoudtville, down to Wupperthal
3: (20 Dec) Wupperthal to Capetown - Find place to stay for 2 nights
4: (21 Dec) Spent a day in the Cape riding the Cape peninsula - Simonstown, and surrounds - sleep second night in Cape Town.
5: (22 Dec) Heading back along the Westen Cape coastline stopping at places like Langebaan, Paternoster, Yster fontein, Lambertsbay and find accomodation sometime around there or even a bit inland.
6: Suggestions sort of direction back to North West
7: Ride back to Brits
We don't have time for a longer ride, and don't want 1st class accommodation. We have loved the night in Prins Alfred last year at 'Angies G spot' in the tented accomodation and something along our route like that would be a bonus. We are taking small tents with us just incase.
Cape Town I don't know, both the youngmen would love to see the area and I want to show them places of interest like th Harbour, Houtbay and Simonstown so we would like recomendations on a bike friendly guest house of sort for the 2 nights please.
I thank you in advance for those that will participate to do a couple recommendations.
Yes probably a bit late to start planning now but it is where we find ourselves so let's do it!
I will on another trip ride down to the Western Cape after I have seen the back specialist and is sorted to see Woody1 and ChrisL and some friends.
I dont have the ability at this stage to load maps on a GPS (have an Etrax 30 but never used it other than on the island eepwall: ) so we will rather stick to cellphne GPS and roadmap (paper map)
