What a fantastic RR with brilliant photos. I am glad you had a good (understatement) time and are loving life. I can't wait to read your next RR so get packing and hit the road Jack 😉

A hearty welcome back, Tom. Nice RR too!!! Good to see you out and about.

PS....Pok we missed you.

Welcome home, Tom, thanks for sharing and great to see Xpat is still on his jaunts.

I'm not on FB anymore so I don't see his posts on adventure riding.

Welkom terug uncle Tom!!

Daai ride lyk bevange! Jy nou meer tevrede met Lipstick?
Thanks Sandban(g)k !!

Honestly bought the wrong bike
Yes it takes some to admit an impulsive mistake
I would have been better off with something like a secondhand XT660R (Not the Z which we owned and did not like due to reasons I don't want to repeat again.
Sadly the day of the thumpers are coming to and end and with KTM going belly up (hope someone can save it) I'm not sure what we gonna be able to ride other than finding a lower milage gem.
The 690 with the long ratio gearbox of Xpat is next level especially the forgiving nature of that WP Suspention!!
KTM is unfortunately above my range of affordability

The Rally sure got it's market but honestly in my view even a KLR would have been a better option.
I did not need a 'new bike' but my thinking was in the line of a light enduro/multi purpose bike that I could handle especially when the back gets sore
The Rally is 'pap' wrt power and the saggy suspention.
I will hold on to the Rally and see if I can do some worthy upgrades over time as budged allows because selling now would not make much sense with me being away so much and I slapped close to R12K worth of accessories on it.
It is not a bike I will recoment someone to get though but it all depends what you want to do with it I suppose.
Only positive is fuel usage - even when the going gets tough she sips fuel at 34 (and better) km/l.
Probably need to add it smooth like gramma's Singer sowing machine
Service real easy
Thats about it - I will be patient with this one.
Will get the suspention upgraded and if that makes a worthy difference I'll look at that engine mod the Americans do and this all depends on money available and the most valuable my health.

Let me know when you in the area!

Suspensie pla nie met my gewig nie🙈

Lots of Dogs names on that wall at Beestkraal TVB.
Yes sir!
That lady that runs the place made me feel very uneasy when she stormed me with a spray bottle of soap and a rag....thought maybe I got to get a bit exited cause this 'tannie' want's to give me a bath but nope....she cleaned my helmet.
Apparently a service to her biker friends.
Thank you ma'am but very hard to see a beautiful lady picking up my dusty and sweaty helmet and cleaning it....It reminds me of some guys that expect them wives to clean the footwear.
Each to his own but I rather 'serve than be served'
