Not sure if this is in the right place - Mods please move if so.

My wife wants an old VW Beetle to ride around in town, preferably a pre 1970 model.  Is it possible to buy a VW Beetle and replace the rusted body parts with second hand/new ones or is it better to walk away from a rust bucket.  Had a look at some, but all have rust.  I do not want to spend a fortune, but must say that the old VW Beetles do have some appeal.
