Good to ride with some of the local dogs, on all sorts of bikes. 950's,GS's,Vara,XR,XT,KLE,KLR,Caponord.
Maybe we should organize these rides more often.

Hey PS... thanx for the suggestion on fitting the crashbars. It seems that I will be able to get in behind the radiators as suggested.  Will try to fit the bars... believe that it will rain for the next few days, so I will have time to fiddle.

As I suggested... I agree that we should have a regular ride like this... maybe a monthly Sunday out ride?

heres one or two of the photos i took
it was a very strange morning im pretty darn sure i even saw
a wildebeest

Nice report. Good to see some familiar faces on their bikes again.  ;D  Eisbein must have been enjoying himself  ;) ;D

This is still the pick of the lot:

;D ;D ;D
Thanks Trailrider,  transformation to the darkside has started.

That Raid sure sounds good in full flight, after Uiltjies bike i sure have a thing for the big twin sound.
So many rides and then boom, so many new faces. Sure is nice to put faces to such familiar names.

I see the bearded General was amongst you guys.  I saw this restaurant in Mosselbay on Saturday, thought it would make a lekka Avatar for him!

After the ride out with you guys this was the 1st time out again in a long time - so many new faces, such nice ride and my bike back with me again !
You bet I enjoyed it !

I have one or two photos to add, but I'll do that later - things with the new job is a bit hectic and I don't get much forum time...

Growweblaar - if I was drinking coffee it would have been spurted out over my keyboard now - very funny comment !
No, no damage to my *ummm* sump... :D ;D

Well I was'nt on the ride as such as it was a really spur of the moment feeling that got hold on me on Sunday morning, about an hour after the organised ride had already left. To tell the truth I was'nt planning to give the  recuperating ankle (fooked it up properly in a silly non-bike related incident) some gravel physio yet but it was such a nice day and for the first time in almost 3 months I headed for the dirt. Maybe I'll still run into some dogs, I thought.  So it was up Sir Lowreys, into Grabouw, took the R321 for the first time in my life (still all tar, but what a lekker road!) before turning off on the gravel going down Van der Stel pass into Botrivier. What now, I thought with no WD's to be seen. Ah well, it is so nice to be on gravel again, I'll strike out to Greyton and have a breakfast and then go home (Parow, of which I am desperately trying to be the Arrow) via Franschhoek.

Lo and behold, I had scarcely sat down to a lonesome little breakfast when two KTM's clattered into town (would later find out it was the vanguard of the posse consisting of Kamanya and some other dude). In a while the main body with Scribble, Mark Hardy and other familiar faces came past and stopped to do the hail fellow well met thing. . Good to see them again and good to be on the rural roads again. Sorry, no pics, buth here is a GPS-trace of my route on Google Earth. Must be quite similar to the one the gang followed. Greyton is the little yellow dot on the right and Theewaterskloof dam the puddle in the middle. Total distance a quickish 320km.

More ride reports to follow as time goes by...

Many thanks to Boertjie for organising the ride and to Rooipoot for spicing it up.Enjoyed meeting other WD and meeting up with some from the past.
Ball & Chain ! sorry you had to eat the remnants of my no. plate and bracket,I actually thought my rear tyre blew out , the bang was so loud as it got jammed in the rear swing arm.
Eisbien ! glad to hear the ball bearing are in tact in your sump, that Dakar sure threw a couple of rocks at you.Tell me, were you singing very high notes at "Die Uilnes" ?
Hey Uiltjie, that all fall down hill was a little hairy, but not as scary as riding through that long "Koring" on your farm.
And as for the wildebees,I also saw it .It only had one horn.Later at Rooippots house, while having coffee with one of the local farmers,he told us it is about 25 years old and the only survivor of 4.
Well I got some bumpy video`s of the ride ,but am too busy at work at the moment to post them.Oh ja,and the helmet cam hasnt worked since it hit the ground attached to my handlebars.
Till the next run then !
