Lito - you're right - it wasn't falsely advertised either!
;D ;D ;D

You delivered what you said you would. ;D ;D

There is some truth also in shifting your capabilities in an controlled environment.
Things that I've done in the quarry with the Pig helped me a lot out in the sticks when I encountered similar situations. Gives the confidence

Having said that I would also bring the TTR to a party like this!

;D ;D

Crap got drunk on Saturday and woke up in Gordonsbay............... booze is evil.........  sorry i missed this guys

Shew , mud , sand.
On Sunday the family were going out to a birthday party with the kids , but my curiosity got the better of me.
Now I knew lito was headed for the power lines and builders warehouse.
I came from the opposite dirrection via Corrobrick as I thought that by this time I would have missed the start.
Went all the way down the gravel road to the end.I came across a very able rider on a BMW800 in the sand , But no Lito.So I called MTB and got hold of Lito.
Back down the road , through the bush and eventually saw some lights in the distance.
By the time I got there I was knackerd.
They headed off into the bush , mud.
I didnt even get 100 m   and my bike got stuck so deep , that I had to pull it over onto its side to get it out.
Giraffe came to the rescue and I was back on again.
A couple of hundred meters more and I thought to myself,
I have 1 hour to be home and I cant even get  going in all this mud, sand and bush.
So I decideded to leave and make my way through the bush back to corrobrick.

Giraffe called me to find out where I was.I had just had another off and when he called.
But I managed to get the bike up.(I`m getting too old for this bike picking up).
Anyway , Sms`d Giraffe once I was back on the tar as he requested.
Think I`ll stick to the mountains trail riding.
But hecktic ride Lito.

Hey all.

It seems that every time I want to go for a nice relaxing ride something happens to ruin it. Got a call from my wife about 50m before the 2nd clearing that there was someone in the yard and that ADT was not responding to the panic button. Told her "Call the cops I'm on my way".

It's amazing what a shot of adrenaline can do for ones riding. What was very hard work on the way in (I fell twice-both times in the bog) was dispatched with twice as fast and without incident on the way out. Turns out someone tried to steal our bicycles and some powertools from the garage. My wife heard a noise and spotted the burglar through a window, got the fright of her life and hit the panic button. The long and the short of it is that ADT took 20 minutes to respond to the alarm.

By the time they showed up the cops were there and had already swept the property for the intruder. He was nowhere to be found.

It turns out nothing was taken and everyone is safe. The response time of the SAPS was remarkable and according to Liezel the person who took her call was professional and efficient. Well done guys.

I spent a large portion of Monday morning kakking out ADT employees and will hopefully get a full report detailing their momentous incompetence before the end of the week.

Lito: Thanks for the PM. Maybe next time we get to complete a ride together.

Everyone else: Hope you all had a blast. I know I did.

Yes I confess to be squirming in the background in MrBig's first picture. I was looking for a spot to cross over into the track on the left. The lapse in concentration took it's toll....amazing what happens when you don't stay focussed in the whoops. There's no requirement to take pics of your own mishaps is there? ???

I had hurt my ribs badly 2 weeks ago (non-biking incident) so pulled out early to avoid any further injury. Thanks Dirk for helping to pick up my bike.

Just a few pics taken and then my camera's battery went flat. :-[

I was amazed at the variety of bikes that pitched, anything between 250 and 1200 cc with hardly any duplicates. No Vespa's but I may have spotted a Loncin  >:D

Out of the blue we see a familiar face appear on a XT660R. I now suspect he has an infra-red version of Google Earth on his GPS.

Kamanya in action, taking it easy as he promised. Is that a swarm of locusts in the air?
Is it a dirty camera sensor? No it is mud.

You can't take them anywhere and they gooi donuts:

As I mentioned I was not in peak shape. What makes it worse is if you know you can't pick up your own bike: does nothing for the confidence, which you need a lot of in those circumstances. Having worked nightshift didn't help either, but that's my problem.

Thanks Lito and everybody else!

Wow Sprocketbek - nice camera, nice phodies  8)

Michiel should frame that pic of his bike.... :mwink:

Next time, we maak klaar! :thumleft:

Looks awesome - and very tiring.

I went to the quarry and zone 7 on Sat - man, that was tiring work - so I can imagine your ride to be 10 times harder.

Next time I'll join you nutters.

Hey, Wes, get well soon.

Horse here,

Great ride!! I Haven't been off road in a few year (8 or so), so had forgotten how fit you have to be. Needless to say, I'm not in the greatest shape of my life!! But was great fun anyway.

Hope to be getting fitter, so I can enjoy the rides more. Would have liked to finish the complette ride!! We should start with the hard (ground) stuff, and finish with the arse breaker (sand) !!!

Later

Horse  ??? ???

Looking forward to the next ride in Northern Cape Flats.

I new what to expect from the sand but the muddy bits were worse than I could imagine, but I prefer that. At one stage it looked like my bike was going to get sucked in!
