The Western Cape Bash will be held at Ons Karoo Plaas, Vleiland, Rouxpos on the weekend of 12-14 April 2024
Location: S33° 23.314' E21° 07.788
The format is the exact same as the 2023 bash for those that attended. Costs are similar but even cheaper if you camp.
Do not make direct bookings with the venue. Only bookings via this thread will be attended to.
Bash attendance is capped at 45 due to catering.
About the venue:
Ons Karoo Plaas is nestled in the foothills of the Klein Swartberg, in the Vleiland area (Rouxpos) a few kms off the dirt road that connects Laingsburg and Seweweekspoort
Nearest fuel is in Laingsburg (47km) and Ladismith (70km)
Nearby is is Bosluiskloof pass, Gamkapoortdam, Anysberg Nature Reserve, Seweweekspoort and Floriskraal dam
The site has free WiFi
The ablutions are neat and have Eskom dependant electricity and gas geysers for hot water. There are 7 showers and the thrones are supplied with toilet paper
All sites have electrical (Eskom) connections - camp sites have to share between 2 sites.
Washing up facilities for own cutlery is at the ablutions area
Accomodation is a choice of camping, backpackers, tents and caravans (well equipped with tents, fridges and braais)
Accommodation units each have an emergency light for loadshedding plus each unit has a fridge available
- Campers - bring your adapters for charging and your camping / headlight for times of darkness.
- There is a cement dam to cool off in, so bring your swimming broeks
The bar:
It is an honesty bar. We are all familiar with how that works. Anything used needs to be recorded on an honesty sheet and must be paid for before departure by either cash or card. The bar has a fair variety of drinks and cover the basics like rum, whiskey, gin, beer, brandy etc. There might even be wine, but if you have a favourite, bring it along
You may bring your own booze, but please support the venue as much as you can. Topbox drinkers bring their own drinking vessel and do not use the bar's glasses
Ice will be available free for paying customers at he honesty bar, but must be bought if you are a topbox / campsite drinker.
Food:
Food slips will be prepared and handed out at arrival for the Friday and Saturday evening meals. No slip = no plate and cutlery, no food.
Evenings meals will be a communal braai Friday and evening / Potjiekos with extras Saturday evening. This is included in the bash fee.
Other food:
Saturday morning, afternoon or Sunday morning food - the Dirt Road Cafe is approx 8km from Ons Karoo Plaas. They will be pre-warned of a large group visiting so they can try be prepared as it’s a small place. Those who know for certain they will want to go for breakfast, brunch of lunch will be best advised to book. Tel: 066 270 2291
Else bring your own stuff, have leftover braai meat or have a ride-out to e.g. Seweweeksooort and Ladismith for brunch or have a road side braai.
Extra braai wood will be available at R40 per crate if you wish to use the braai drum at your caravan site.

Great venue, many dirt roads to choose from. A chance to spend time with your buddies and meet some new ones. Accomodation of your choice and to suit your budget, Friday and Saturday evening meals, morning coffee or tea and a bash sticker. If we are lucky, some hand-out prizes might be available.

The rest of the accomodation are Caravan and tent based

Double beds = R1640 per couple

One day (Saturday) visitors are limited to campers
Pick your caravan friends well as single and double beds share the same space. Some single beds are in the caravan tents.
