I've been wondering about this for a while. I know the state of tune plays a role as well as the oil capasity but when you compare the KLR and the Africa Twin, which are both in a very mild state of tune and their oil capasity is virtually the same (2.5l for the KLR and 2.6l for the AT) there has to be other other factors as the KLR has to be serviced every 4500km and the AT every 13,000 (8k miles). Does the average operating temperature play a role? I suspect the KLR runs quite a bit hotter than the AT. What's your thoughts?
