Phillips tunnel and kouga dam..
This is one of the oldest irrigation works in the Eastern Cape. In 1842 William Philip, son of Dr. John Philip - founder of Hankey, and labourers from Hankey began cutting a tunnel approximately 94 metres in length through the hill, 88 m of which passes through solid rock. It cost £2 500, of which £500 was contributed by the London Missionary Society, the balance being recovered by means of a water-rate on the lands to be irrigated.

Louisxander and myself did the easy but nice ride through to Val for breakfast and road the same route next to the bapsfontein train tracks on the way back to Benoni . Way less water but still about ten holes to go through including the one that caught me out x2 last weekend. This time it was my turn to laugh as all I herd was swearing and begging for help as he went down in the famous hole that got me last weekend. Over a 210km distance my bike was almost R80 rand cheaper on fuel .Both bikes are KTM 950 .

I need to get out a bit. Been work and work and some more work, added to some medical issues with my wife.
Mentally need to get out.
Thanks for sharing all!
