Which rear tyre for the KLR?

The Dunflop has done 2000km and it's almost kaput, should probably be good for another 1000km. Is that normal or am I just heavy on the right hand?

Now, which tyre would be best for 80/20 riding? I had a Bridgestone on the KLE which I think was pretty good on and off road and it seemed to last well.
