Earlier this year I sold my much loved Varadero & have been looking around ever since for a suitable replacement. With the economic climate being what it is, I decided mid way through my search that rather than financing another bike, I should save up & buy a second hand bike cash.

My lovely wife decided that the driveway looked incredibly shabby & needed repaving.
My idea of a fairly new & decent condition bike went out the window & I decided to scout about for a cheap(ish) project bike.What follows is a week by week report as I restore my Dr.Big to its former glory.
Day 1:
Woke up early & jumped in the bakkie for the long drive to fetch the bike from Estcourt.
The bike looked considerably tattier in the metal than it did in the photos. (The seller admitted the photos were taken quite some time ago). I decided there & then to rebuild it immediately and ditch the original plan of only rebuilding the bike after Iâ??d put a few 1000 kms on the clock. The trip back passed very quickly as I was imagining all the lovely mods I was going to make.
