So I took an early holiday in December and decided to go play on the dirt bike at the Country Trax training farm in Amersfoort. Unfortunately the same weekend I had in mind they were doing their last course for the year.

They had eleven riders booked for the advance big bikes course. So I thought great, leave the dirt bike and I jumped on the GS and rode down on Thursday to join the fun.

Patience ... struggling with the uploads ... looks like I have to compress the photos or use photobucket

Normally the course begins with a night ride on Thursday. But soon after we arrived that afternoon the rain came down in bucket loads. It was raining so bad we were sure the night ride would be cancelled.

Then in typical Jan Staal fashion: Gentlemen, thank you for bringing us rain this weekend. We will reward you with a nice ride in the forest at night in the mud  >:D >:D

With those words that was it, the course had begun:

Friday we woke to a beautiful sunny day. After a nice breakfast we get the day started with some easy warm up exercises:

Soon as the bodies are loosen up and the bikes warmed up, then things start to get interesting:

There is a now very famous Afrikaans saying which people use all the time when they see trouble coming: Hier kom kak  >:D

Most don't know that this saying actually comes from the Khoisan language. The original saying in Khoisan is: !xi !xom !xak

And yes !xak was coming our way:

Then we get a bit of a break from the training ground. We go on an outride to cool the big motors down and enjoy the farm a bit:

One or two other exercises and Friday is gone. This was downhill braking, slow race style:

No Roger was helping to recover it. He was one of the instructors and playing role of sweeper at the time

Fortunately the new LC has quite high air intakes. Just got stuck at an awkward angle and needed some manpower to reverse out.

Saturday and Sunday coming soon
