Seriously need to get my *** into gear and do some training next year…

Saturday is the day that the "advanced" part of the course really becomes apparent.

We start as always with some nice and easy exercises to get into the groove. First up some balancing drills.

But that is not the order of the day. Nice and easy is now gone. We go straight from there to some real work.

We then went to another section of the farm where they built three ovals. The first exercise is doing cones but this time with a twist. The trick is to be aggressive coming in, hard on the rear brake to get the bike into a sideways slide, then turn and accelerate hard to break traction and complete the turn. You do this left to right for about 8 cones:

There is a lot of riding between exercises from one section to the next. Sometimes we throw in some fast riding and get air since it was quite hot that weekend.

We got to this nice open section of the farm with a rocky climb and then we played up and down for a half an hour:

We also do some fun stuff in between. Anyone who has attended a BMW Eco or GS Trophy or such event will be familiar with barrel racing; two riders chase each other around two cones set about 20 yards apart:

We began after lunch with an outride where we left the farm and went on some local dirt roads for a fast burn. Then the !xak !xom again. They took us to the sand pit.

The rest of the afternoon is spent in the sand pit with riders playing sweating and cursing:

WHAT A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE THANK U FOR SHARING GREAT PIC,S

I will do so for sure. Where is the SE?

On the final day we kicked off with Jan's favourite exercise, Elephant Turns.

Then we did an interesting exercise where you drop into a two meter deep hole that is about ten meter diameter. Two riders drop in at a time and chase each other around in a merry go round race.

The weekend closed with an outride to a nearby poplar forest.

This was by all accounts a very difficult ride and I was glad I chose not to join this part of the ride. Instead I went with a small group of three back to the eight km long trail called the mamba. We also went to the three ovals and practiced power slides and high speed cornering.

I think I shall be returning again next year. It was the most fun and hard work I have had this year on the big bike. If the stars line up correct I might be returning in something resembling this :

It's a GS Adventure with heavy modifications to the front end to achieve weight reduction. The result an awesome handling and beautiful looking bike  :thumleft:
