you are very lucky to have bavejaans on your doorstep .... i have only made it once  and once half in for a party and home next day but dream about that place ..
have yu ever stayed in the cave ( i think magdas se gat) near the trading store on willowmore side...

You probably talking about Makadaat Caves. I've not slept over in the formal cave accommodation. When we sleep over in Baviaans its at Rietrivier, opposite Makadaat. There are some nice caves too, but we still have to fix it up.

You can get the links to my RR's here where I talk about it. https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=90841.0 ( No's 2, 5 and 11)

Sometimes a ride happens on the spur of the moment, which usually turns out a good one, not spoiled by too much planning. At other times the idea grows over time and the ride developes itself. That's how this one came about.

This was not your usual ride and I'm not sure if any other Dogs had done something like it. Ping a couple of dogs and tell them you're riding their way and want to visit ? Expect them to also get a couple of Dogs together along the way so you can meet them ! Who the fuck cares ? But we're Wilddogs, a strange kind of family, we do care, and if only one responded, it would make it worthwhile.

The response was overwhelming and from my perspective the trip was a huge success. To every Dog along the way that helped to make it so, I say thanks. Of all the Dogs that responded to my 'Plan a Ride' I only missed out on one I really looked forward to meeting and that was Dual. This was only due to a miss communication, but we'll sort it next time. As it turned out the trip was a busy and tiring one. There were many more Dogs I would liked to have seen, but in the end I could only get around to those who responded to the call. See you next time, because this was a trip worth doing again.

Out of the blue Fudge reminds me of this trip,... and how time has flown. So many bikes later and I can't count the friends I've made here since then.

Me thinks its time for another tour, and the time on the 400 twin.

Ja Gerrard, time flies.
The post before yours was from HarryThe Buffalo, who lost his son too early. Dave, thinking of you buddy even if you dont post on here much anymore.

Gerrard, cannot believe this fred is 6 years old! It has sat in the back of my mind all this time, and earlier this year inspired the planning of a road trip for April next year. In spite of going "places", my wife & I listed all the friends in the Cape we haven't seen in yonks, and are in advanced stages of planning a 2-week round trip (West Coast - Boland - Klein Karoo - Eastern Cape and back via Malutis) during which we want to meet up with friends again. Even if just a cup of coffee. Some WDs on the "hit list" too.   I know it will be a memorable trip! So thanks for the idea of people rather than places...

Yeah what happened to those pics
Hi Gerhard- what a bootjie- will allways appreciate your effort  travelling out from PE just to show and share  all ifs and buts about baviaanskloof -sort of marketing manager for EC and surrounding areas back roads. Sjoe 2012 feels like the other day-best ride ive had in my life.

Unfortunately not. I had them loaded with photo bucket, which crashed, and the pics were stored on my laptop that was stolen. Did not back up.
