Some more pics on route to Collins Pass
Collins Pass, not much so see.
Smaak my nou maak ek klaar, hierdie pomp het klaar gepomp.
We made a quick pitstop in Ladysmith for a grub; here we grazing with the cattle.
After brunch we were on the road again to Wenen.
What’s wrong in this photo?
And here I took the wrong turnoff, only to be corrected by wifey. “huh”
In Wenen it was all tar to Mooirivier, so time to pump the tires again.
This chap sells springbuck and sheepskin. I stopped and bought a sheepskin, you will see the photos a bit later.
????? What do they mean with this?
We arrived in Mooirivier and looked for a place to camp for the night and could find nothing. Everything was either fully booked or ridiculous priced at R800 plus for accommodation only. I looked at the distance to Kokstad (our route for tomorrow) and saw that it was only another 200 odd kilometers and it should roughly be doable in 2 to 3 hours’ time. My wife and I looked at each other and we instantly knew that we were heading for Kokstad, after all, I just bought a sheepskin that we were sitting on and we could now sit for hours without any numbness.
See the attached file of the route from Mooiriver to Kokstad, the road will take you to Himeville, then Underberg and then to Kokstad.
This was as if this last piece of road was made to end this trip on a high note. The scenery on this 100 km stretch of gravel is awesome. Here are some photos of it.
We reached Himeville just before dark, filled the big blue and headed for Kokstad.
The sun setting.
The last 50km’s were done in the dark. We stopped at our daughter’s place at 18:30, tired but relieved and thankful that we were safe.
The Big Blue with the sheepskin.
After a good couple of Whiskeys and a nice plate of food we hit the sack.
That’s all, our trip came to an end a day earlier, until the next time, keep them 2 wheels on the ground and travel safe.
