DAY 10 Monday – 2014-12-29

We left early, before breakfast as the plan was to have breakfast in De Rust.

The idea was to meet the previous owner (Kally) as I only met his son (Einstein on the forum).  While in Oudtshoorn, I contacted him and it was a deal.

What goes up, must go down, and then again, what goes down, must come up again

Time to leave

We arranged that we'll meet at this shop.  Ou Bees enjoyed it as the shop was full of "lady stuff".

Although we were on holiday, life is still going on for others.

Beervleidam - empty, droog, niks water

From De Rust the wind was terrible strong.  In Aberdeen I had to refill and we also stopped for a snack.  The plan was to sleep in Graaff Reinet.

The church with the highest tower I believe.

We arrived in Graaff Reinet late afternoon.

SUBIE - HERE IS THE VIOLANCE PART:  ::)
After a shower etc, we walked around in town, looking for a place to eat.  We walked into the one place, and the lady told us that they are full and that there are other places to eat in town.  We went there, but we were not happy, so we went back, and the tables were still empty.  Ou Bees asked her again, and she still insisted that they are full.  With her customer service background, told the lady in proper Afrikaans that since we came into the restaurant, she didn't want to help us.  She asked her to tell her what the problem is and all of a sudden they have a table available.

Makes you think.........

Since Eskom don't allow aircon's etc, these people decided to cool themselves on a traditional way

Dorsland started a tread "Daar is niks so lekker soos" https://wilddog.net.za/forum/index.php?topic=155438.140 and he mentioned about the fruit cake Christa, his wife bakes.  I had to go and have a look if it is true, so the plan for tomorrow is to visit him on his farm.

That was day 10.  Tomorrow it is off to Dorsland, Cradock and then home.

DAY 11 Tuesday– 2014-12-30

Wake up the morning and it was raining light outside.

Immediately I realized that the road to Dorsland is no man’s friend when wet.  I sms’ed him and according to him it was dry, but he has to go to Middelbrug, but would be back soon.

We then decided to go to Nieu-Betesda as we never been there.

I’ll let the kiekies do the talking and I’ll add as we go.

Monkey see, monkey do - we smiled

The following kiekies were taken on our way to Nieu-Betesda - what a place to visit.

We just "jumped" over the tar road onto the gravel road to Dorsland.

Johan & Christa - thanks for having us.  It was a pleasure and we'll be back.

Chaps - that fruit cake was very nice.  Christa kan bak  ;D

As we left them I said to Ou Bees - Nou moet jy vashou - dis laat en ek wil by die huis wees vanaand  :deal:

Close to Cradock we contacted our Moms and it was arranged that we all meet at one place for lunch.

While eating, a lady (Sorry, but I forgot her name) came into the place and told us that we have to excuse her husband as he like bikes and he is walking around my bike.  Ou Bees said to her as long as he is a WD, Jaco will know him.

Well - I didn't know him, but now I know.  Nice meeting you and your family Jacobsroodt.  Hope the holiday on the farm was nice.

During the conversation it came out that I know her dad, which was a bank manager many many moons ago in Dordrecht - oom Tappies.  Today he is an active farmer.  Sout vd aarde oom.

Life is short - you never when again you'll see your loved ones, so we always make a plan to go past Cradock if we are nearby.
