Ok ...so where was I ....Oh yes ...heading towards Port Alfred
I was getting a little worried,  as some evil looking storm clouds where building up to the east of me. I could just imagine howling winds and torrential rain for the rest of the trip ..not my favourite riding conditions. I was also starting to get really hungry as I had not eaten since the day before, and that was only one boerie roll. I was considering stopping for breakfast at Port Alfred but I thought it would be better to try and out run the foul weather. The baby Ten was really humming along ..what a machine.  :love4: I had decided to push through to Port Elizabeth and see what the weather was going to do. But eventually hunger got the better of me. Young Dylan at Hoylake Inn had highly recommended a farm stall just outside Port Elizabeth called Nanage . So with a growling stomach I pulled in ready to eat the first thing I could get my hands on. Once again ..I was not disappointed ...I must admit, I ate till I felt sick ..absolutely pigged out. The breakfast is a buffet of the worst kind  ...bacon , eggs , sausage , boerewors , mushrooms , tomatoes , and the best of all ...the most delicious rooster brood I have ever tasted...man I was in heaven. There were a lot of other bikers enjoying the breakfast and I delayed a bit longer than I wanted to chatting to the manne. Those Eastern Cape boys are a friendly bunch and I could have happily spent the rest of the day there. But the road was calling and the weather was looking ominous. I needed to push on.

Port Elizabeth came and went without incident and Jbay was in my sites. Petrol was getting a bit low so I decided to fill up at Jbay. I pulled off at the off ramp feeling very pleased with myself and stopped at the stop street ...was looking left and right ...and suddenly ...WHAM ...a flipping car ploughs into the back of me. :confused2: :confused2: I couldn't believe it ...Phuuuggggg ...no ....my beautiful blind date had been assaulted ...she was injured.

Whew ...reliving this makes me thirsty ...I need another whiskey ...be back later
I do have a complete new swing arm and all bearing and bushes in my Garage for a bike like that. That is if it was that bad. Hope the bike suffered little damage my mate.

I am enjoying the suspense!
However Coxie I note with interest that you have omitted to mention your actual first and only love on two wheels ie the one before that yellow and pink abomination!! A real Freudian omission.  ;D

:-\

jammer om te hoor.

waiting for the next mini installment    :sip:

OK ...Im back ....
So... there I was , sitting quietly at a stop street, and a "lady" rams into the back of me. Fortunately it wasn't to hard so I managed to not drop the bike , but it was hard enough to destroy the tail tidy, indicators stop light and number plate. So as you can imagine I'm pissed off ....I mean really pissed off...I got off and had a look at the damage, and lets just say, I wasn't my usual charming self when I spoke to the "lady."  We swopped details and fortunately she is insured ...I'm not.. cause I just got the bike. so lets see how long her insurance takes to pay ....but that's a whole new story.
So now I'm left with a problem ...I've still got a long way to go ....with no rear end  :-\...and I know that there will be a road block at Mossel Bay and definitely at Swellendam. I could see myself racking up a whole host of traffic fines by the time I got home. I went to the JBay police station to report the accident and they were quite helpful. I gave my statement, but what they wrote was like two different stories , I don't know how they solve any crimes.

So about an hour and a half later I'm back on the road and humming along towards Mossel Bay where I had planned to spend the night. The baby Ten seemed none the worse after her ordeal other than a lot of dangly bits hanging off her arse.

Made Mossel Bay with no further incidents and had a dammm good nights sleep. A 700 km day on an ironing board is no mean feat for an old man like me

Next morning I was up bright and early and headed towards Somerset West. I went through three road blocks and not one of them noticed the missing number plate or indicators, so I got home without being pulled over once ...Who says our cops are not on the ball  :lol8:  Maybe they just feel sorry for ou toppies freezing their arses off.
Anyways that's about all ...oh yes ...I got a quote for the damage ...R1800.00 ..so its not that bad , so lets see if her insurance coughs up.

So to end off ...what can I say about the Baby Ten ...Well... she's awesome ...but ...she will never replace my first real love ...The Pig  :snorting: :snorting:

The Pics ...

On the way to East London .....I swear ...I had nothing to do with the colour of that aircraft

Nanage ...The breakfast spot .

The slightly modified rear end.

Mr Ratrap ...sir ...As much as I loved my Africa Twins and the twenty or so bikes before ..."The yellow abomination" will always be my first love

Put some proper indicators on the oem ones just fall off after some gravel road riding... :thumleft:

Nice report and thanks for sharing  :thumleft:

Glad that you are OK after the little incident and that there isn't to much damage on the bike.

Enjoy your new ride

Nice scoot enjoy ;)

Fix it yourself as her insurance will take a long time to refund you IF they do. ::) System works slow... ::)
