So Kreef called for a Atlantis ride and a couple of noobs pitched to try their hand at sand riding.

Help me with the names but as far as I can remenber it went something like this:

Kreef - 650 Dakar
Crispin - 800 GS
Guy on KLR - 650 KLR
Michiel - 650 KLR
Stev0 - Plastic
Andy - Plastic
Kreef's friend - Plastic
Tuareg - 950 KTM

All made it into the dunes, the noobs took the main entrance, some had to be pushed
that last bit but showed great courage. Sadly I never took any pictures of the group but
here's what I have.

Kreef making er' stand.

Tuareg getting suprised by the soft sand and nearly go over the front... Fearless...

A lot of huffing and puffing to get the pig out.

Just to show you how soft the sand can be, very dangerous.

Then I got caught out as well. Landed on my head, outch!

In the meantime the KTM stalled and refused to start. We tried jumping er', thanks for the guys
with the 4x4, but with no results. So they took Tuareg to the road and his wife came to bail him
out with his old Cruiser.

On our way back to the bike we got a bit lost and ended up at the bottom of the bush having to ride up
what felt like an impossible track just to get back to the main dunes.

See Kreef catching his breath as I try to recover my failed attempt.

Finally we got out and helped to load the KTM.

Atlantis always seems to claim a victim or two.  Nice pics as always. Thanks.

mm so whens the next ultra noob ride ?
or have you guys all graduated to regular noobs
this is the one thing that really bothers me and I need to overcome it

Shot Michiel, thanks for the pics.

Corrections on the name list:

Kreef - 650 Dakar
TrevorV- 800 GS
U-Go - 650 KLR
Michiel - 650 KLR
Stev0 - Plastic
Andy - Plastic
Goonrider - XR650
Tuareg - 950 KTM

Awesome ride .........!
I really enjoyed the experience
Thanks to Kreef for putting it together & Michiel for baby sitting us through the initial learning curve
And also to Goonrider for helping to load the stricken machine into the back of the Cruiser.....    :thumright: :thumleft:

....... as soon as the KTM is running & I'm able to walk normally again!    :ricky:

haha, I can walk again, but i am still struggling to shake hands or pretty much lift my arms highter than my hips... It k@k pushing the bike up a dune while its 'going' (at least the rear wheel is) at 50-60km/h.

I've decided not to take the 950 to Atlantis again. These big bikes are a ball ache when the shit starts hitting the fan.

Its also hard on the big bikes' engines due to the temperatures, from spinning and getting no air flow.

If you guys go do an atlantis noob ride agen, let me know!!
If done sand riding, but never done proper sand-(dunes)-And I have alway's wanted to go ride at atlantis dunes...
So when you go agen, please just send me a pm or something....!!!!
Thanx

And show more pics!!

You big girls blouse.

You're riding too slow then, speed up. It's not only better for the bike, but you too. You'll fall off less.

Personally, I don't think there is ANY medium to big dual sport bike better than the big KTM twins (Adv & SE) for riding in the sand. But then, I am biased of course.

Ya ya, you may fall off less, but you fall off harder :p

Riding dunes on a plastic is more fun and I insist on it. 8)
