What a spectacular day as usual.  Aprilian and I came in a bit late - that must be the reason we outlasted most - not to mention the kwakkie sakie 200.  Always glad to meet up with some like minded dogs.  After nearly 10 years of riding the dunes, it never disappoints.  If you have not been there with a bike - put it on your bucket list.

Andrew (Kamajab) - always great to see the way you and that that hybrid 990 tackle the sand monster.....

Great ride tx Fuzzy, bought a few plots on way in, high-sided on the flat and actually got the KLR with too full a tank in the air. Going out killed me. Took out 2 x bushes. Fauna & Flora on my trail. I'm hurting in places I did not knew existed.
G-Wild, tx for the assistance with picking bike up a few times. Much appreciated.

:thumleft: no problem next time you pick up my bike

Much respect dude and don'r worry I went farming a few times mydelf, all part of it... that KLR had a serious amount of juice in it.. it must have been farking heavy. I was looking after you left, the KLR did not seem to use that much petrol compared to mine, I must start taking notes of petrol consumption in these dunes, my CRF is not exactly economical especially when trying to keep up with Wes46.

GWild.. that is some nice air you got there.. I am keen to go back and find my balls with some air like that.

Here you go....

Up the big hill, started in 3rd.

Jeesh Kamanya, you make that sand look like a tar road.
One day when I'm big...

You have exactly the same bike....

Go practice ALOT! Any bit of sand you see, get in it.

The more you practice & fall the easier it gets. Doing it a few times a year is not helpful and then, being the last oke in a long line of people chewing up the path is not going to do your sand riding skills any good at all.

Yip, I'm going there again next weekend, and every weekend after that until I get my head right.
Normally I'm very comfortable in sand but Sunday upset my confidence big time. Not a good thing.
Got to get it back asap.

Stupid question. Did you guys have permits?
It's a huge schlep to get a day permit.

Will post, thanks.

regarding permits I have always been a sticky one on that , I am a believer that if we want to preserve this area as a place where we can ride for us and our kids we should get permits, like a TV licence, it is the right thing to do..

That being said, I also believe that permits should be accessable and easy to obtain, last time I went to go get a permit I had to wait 25min for the person to come back from tea or whatever they were doing, then I got sent away to go and find change because they only take the EXACT amount only to find out that I need the reg papers ... so it was a pain because getting the permit took 2 hours.

I am planning on doing a lot of sand training to get fit so I am going to pick up an annual permit so I don't have to go back and forth.

You can get the permits in Atlantis with very little fuss.  If you regular Atlantis Dunes, its worth it getting a yearly permit. My issue is that if you have more than one bike, you need multiple permits.

Nice pics and video.

Always enjoy your stuff Andrew.

Can you get permits in Atlantis or is it just a backhand to the oke at the gate to let you in?

I know of guys on the forum who just slip the guy some Mandelas.. I would rather ride in without a permit than support corruption.. there is a double standard for you to chew on.

I bought a permit a while back and got to the gate.. fark, I left the permits for myself and Dirthound at home.. fark, so I go to the oke at the gate and tell him to check.. we did infact buy a permit, alrighty there is no system in place for that, so with me getting nowhere I drove all the way home, collected permits and went back, I was a chop but it highlighted the glaring system errors and challenges they face. Even in my desperation there was no solution offered where I could buy a permit at the gate.

I did hear that the permits are going to be attached to the NATIS system at some stage which will make it much easier.

Andrew, what camera are you using.. that pic is excellent

Flipping great riding that whole group did  :thumleft:

Andrew riding like Satan is after him again. Nice one!
