Next day i was keen to get away from Koffiefontein it was kind of depressing to be around this place.....

I really didn't want to go near the big towns and Bloemfontein was not an option so i was adamant to stick to some gravel roads.........

this was my Route to Dealesville from Koffiefontein

You really have something against us Free State okes  ::)

After Petrusberg i noticed you could see the wet after the rains of the weeks before and it wasnt long i came across a truck and trailer at an intersection.... the driver told me he had just crossed the low water bridge and got stuck after which a farmer had towed him out but this was the route to Dealsville...........

i could sense now it was going to get muddy along my route......but Dealsville we were going.......

Just around the corner i came across the low water bridge crossing the Modder River and it was still in flood.......

i had a brief should i shouldnt i moment.........then commited.....and there was no turning back............

de activate traction control..........lets go!!

That river crossing and mud looks.... :ricky:

My video of the Modder river Crossing

I would be lying if i didnt say it was an adrenaline rush

https://youtu.be/WZb9XAf3V2c

the rest of my Ride to Pretoria was along this route.......

I hit some patches of mud and a hairy section they were grading with fresh loose stuff for about 2 km it was hectic i have that footage on my gopro unfortunately....

Luckily got to see my Daughter in one piece and she was kind enough to wash all the mud off my kit.......

will post the rest a bit later....

Great route to get to/from CT, if I might say!!

I hate going places on the same road more than once- I will do the N1 every 4 or 5 years, to see what the changes are, but there are so many more exciting options!

Bring it on!!

My Video of Van Der Kloof

That looks like Niagara Falls

it was impressive of note.....someone said this is the highest dam wall in SA

In what condition is the road from Bultfontein to Bothaville?

Last time I went through there the road was still closed.

It was fine there was a short section i cant remember where exactly they were working on and we were diverted off the road next to the tar for a short bit this was also muddy but not a long piece

not once was the road closed on my trip up

When i crossed the Vaal river into Northwest Province it was looking pretty full......

So after a brief visit with Family and Friends it was off to Augrabies from Gauteng.........this was the route i took trying to stay away from the main routes there

It was a long day I was hoping to find accommodation in Groblershoop but it looked dodgy there and i pushed on to Upington.......not bad for a days ride from Pretoria considering  i also took a number of gravel roads and nearly ran out of petrol

So you did not travel back together after the meetings?

Yes sorry i left that part out.......We had planned to leave together on Thursday but Rod's Boss changed the goal posts a bit and he had to attend meetings on both Thursday and Friday......He only got to Head back to Cape Town on Saturday........

So I took the scenic solo ride back to Cape Town via Augrabies to see the falls in flood........

Came across the Spitskop Dam in Flood and further down stream i just managed to cross the bridge half washed away to Delportshoop

The gravel roads half washed away were interesting to say the least and after a few detours and not getting Petrol in some of the small places i barely made Griekwastad with 9km to spare on my tank

See Spitskop Dam link below
