You know whay they say.
Fortune favours the brave
Early Bird catches the worm
Never look a gift horse in the mouth
etc etc
So it came to pass that Johan and I went sunday cruise after missing the timeout for Droffarc's search for some forlorn place, Our route took us round Franschoek, Theewaterskloof, Van Der Stell Pass and Highlands road returning to Somerset West. Opportunity knocked on our door when we got to the Berg River dam, The remnants of the lost souls of DS biker wannabees(Mountain Bikers) were coming through the dam in race formation.
The opportunity did no go apass and Marshall Johan and Marshall Henry jumped onto the track(in reverse) to "Sweep" for stragglers.

First a quick scout up the mountain to check for security points(The larneys at the checkpoints did not blink twice to let the mlungu sweepers through though)
Road go a bit sticky but hey who is complaining

The dam is scheduled to start filling soon so this will be one of the last photos of this area for a few hundred years(assuming no terrorist attacks, earthquakes etc)

Frodo and Gollum looked glummly at the climb ahead
Another stunning valley which will never be explored again

The fellowship of the ring was apprehensive about conquering the black gate of Mordor, fortunatly Gandalf brought along Shadowfax  >:D

We made it past the back of the dam and on our way to Franschhoek another moment of inspiration sends us up a Safcol road

Upon return Frodo was suprised how the shire had developed
A different view of Franschoek town, note the only option for roadbikers on the other side of the valley

Following the Moutain bikes we found the track back, Note 2 Mountain bikers went down, DS Bikers down - 0  >:D
