The best thing I've done to my 800XC is went one tooth bigger on the front sprocket. Just makes the bike so much smoother and instead of looking for another gear constantly, I often find myself in 5th with a gear in hand. The taller gearing also encourages you to kick down a gear or two more often to really get her going! I don't find it too back on the dirt either. Obviously if you're doing really technical stuff then it's not ideal, but I haven't struggled off road at all.
Also put on the Safari 30 liter tank. Awesome! Now get just short of 600 kms to a tank.
