Woke early Thursday morning 5th December and heard RADIO ALGOAPARK wishing SAREL Daniel van der Merwe {SUPERVAN or just plain VAN ] happy birthday. He was born in the forty's or there about. Van is a 11 times National rally champion also competed overseas in the NASCAR SPRINT SERIES with great results, few people also know that Van was a CHICKEN farmer of note known as FARMERVAN
These days he bottles wine which his cherry Danielle still treads the grapes bare foot hy se dit onstig hom pretty good looking legs
Ride which had been planned for the last 6 or 7 weekends had always rained out but at our Thursday nite CHOP and DOP we had decided come what may we would go on the 6 12 13
All packed and ready to leave some two hour before we planned to depart 12h00 well WITHOND phoned at 11h40 to say what now it is raining
Departure time moved to 13h00, we all met on the N2 and headed west in the pouring rain first stop under the bridge near to van Staadens Bridge
Withond fitting his make shift rain suit PLASTIC RUBBISH BAGS
Stopped on the Old Cape Road for tea and scones
As the rain never let up we proceeded to Blaaukrantz Pass also RIDING Grootriver Pass
Arrived at Sedgefield around 18h40 booked in and looked for the OLD BROWN which Dick had stuck in his pocket I prefer Skip you at least u have that sailing feeling
Supper at Monte Cello,s great food good price even for PENSIONERS
Saturday morning breakfast at the market amongst grumpy people defiantly dont like motor cycles our ride took us to Seven Passes all tar just amazing
We then headed towards Montagu Pass
We then arrived at a very famous corner name after 10 times rally navigator FRANS BOSHOFF those days i had friends in the roads department as I was employed as a Roads Traffic Engineer it was very easy to have roads and street name,s NAMED after great people something like whats going on now
We then followed the roads towards VOORTEKKER[Carlitzdorp] where cokes cost R13.00 each
From Carlitzdorp we headed towards Besemkop Pass and Kruisriver Pass
Swartberg Pass

Arrived at Prince Albert booked into Sommerso (thank u Dina ) great braai
Sunday morning left early for the trek home Willowmore Steytleville P E
Some way on a long dirt road the GS 800 OF lOFTUS broke its rear damper
Wound the spring up giving it load and we where ready to ride
