Day 3 O'kiep to Loeriesfontein

Just after we went down Spectakel pass we turned left at a village called Buffelsfontein. We tried a new twee spoor on the northern side of the village. This took us thru a dry river bed and then we reached a very steep semi technical up hill. Once we reached the top we found ourselfs on a single track that run thru some thick bushes and eventually reach a washed away uphill. We send the 701 up first to check it out and then the Africa Twins followed. We eventually reached a locked gate and had to take one of the pre-plotted alternative routes.

We reached the valley south of Kommagas and entered the Namakwa National park. a Little 2 spoor took us thru a back entrance into Skilpad national park where we saw the first proper flowers. From there on to the Murasie padstal  "en toe vat ons koek en tee". I have contacted the lady owner of the Murasie padstal a month prior and asked her permission to ride thru their farm in a southerly direction towards Spoegrevier. In this area there are the most amaizing twee spoor and single tracks that runs thru trust ground.

We eventually got to Garies and refueled. From there it was high speed gravel all the way to Loeriesfontein where stayed at [member=8100]Hinksding[/member] 's (actually his wife's) guest house.

Day 4 Loeriesfontein to Clanwilliam

It was unexpectedly cold that morning when we got on the bikes. We headed out to Calvinia to refuel and from there thru the Tanka and on to the old postal route and Karretjies pass all the way to Clanwilliam.
The Tra Tra river was in flood a few weeks ago and we were scared that we might not be able to cross it as well as the Doring revier. Luckily the levels was fairly low and we crossed without any hassle.

Day 5 Clanwilliam to Kammieskroon

We left Clanwilliam on a great gravel road to Papkuilsfontein, We asked permission to ride to the lookout point which is an absolute must see. And then we went to their "padstal en toe vat ons weer koek en tee"
Refueled in Nieuwoudsville and took the "Hel se pass" down to "Die Knersvlakte". Garies followed and we slept in Kammieskroon after we had a great dinner at "Die Klipkombuis"

Day 6 Kammieskroon to Klein Pella

We started wit a "skelm 2 spoor paadjie" headding directly south out of Kammieskroon thru a few farms past a small settlement called Tweerivier and then onto on of the jewels of that area. The 2 spoor from Tweerivier south past Kheis and on to Garies for fuel.

From Garies we took the awesome Langkloof pas via Karas and then we found ourselves on the long open road all the way to Aggenys. From Aggenys north to Pofadder and then back on the Namakwa 4x4 route all along the Orange to Klein Pella.

Thanks for sharing this ride with us. Wow! What a lekker trip! I've been eyeballing these areas from the car on trips to Hondeklipbaai and Cape Town for a while now. The desolation and stillness of the Northern Cape is really special. To a large extent what draws people to Northern Namibia can be found in our own back yard! Minus the lion and elephant unfortunately...

(How long was the longest stretch between fill-ups and where?)

Fantastic route.
Fantastic photographs.
Fantastic country.

SA is blessed with such riding opportunity.
