I got up, took a mug out of the cupboard, made coffee and went onto the verandah.

And then I saw this.
As has been said when something like this presents itself to one, 'What are the odds? That's too coincidental to be a coincidence!!'  :)

I check in every day on this RR. So sorry for your loss [I look at my 2 rug rats every day and think of you , I can't emagine what it would be like if one of them didn't come home]

Ive been itching to ask you a question if I may please..............at any point on your trip did you ever feel unsafe?
Regards
Jim

Morning Jim.

Never, not once.

Later in this RR, there was I time I felt uncertain, but you will have to wait for it.

Every moment that you have with your children is precious, treasure them, they are the meaning of your life.

Marius.

I had been invited for breakfast by Morgan, who I met at Ndole and who cleaned my boots.

We were joined by his wife and sister-in-law, who had nearly completed her medical degree.

It was wonderful to spend some time with them.

Then it was off to Kafue, on the T2, a toll road, but motorbikes do not have to pay toll.

The Kafue River.

About 10 minutes ride from the Kafue, there is a hill which is notorious for accidents. Apart from the truck which I saw there, it is littered with wreckage from previous accidents.

Then it was onto the T1, through Mazabuka, Choma and on to Livingstone.

Going through the towns, it is advisable to be alert for pedestrians and vehicles which will just turn onto the road in front of you without even looking.

The amount of truck accidents I came across was crazy. Unlike in South Africa, it does not result in an illegal road-side shopping spree for the locals.

Petrol in Zambia is about R 11,10 per liter.

Whilst at Ndole, I met Bernie Nel, and she then invited me to stay at her establishment, Loose Goose Chalets in Livingstone, for as long as I wanted to.

Upon arrival there, I was told that Bernie was out on a safari ride, so I went down the road to Taonga River Cruises to have a beer and watch the sunset.

Then it was back to Loose Goose and a braai with Bernie and the crowd.

It was Sunday, and I could only have my Covid test done the following day, so I wandered around the property.

There is Small Dog, Bernie's brother's house (I still need to find out where his nickname came from).

Then the bush trail, guarded by ferocious watch dogs.

Bernie's dad, Brian, aka Baronavich, has his house, a massive collection of vehicle and projects on the Loose Goose property.

I know that a lot of what I am sharing does not really represent an Adventure riding environment, but all of these people had an amazing impact on me as a person, they are an integral part of my experience, they all played a part in making this a once in a lifetime trip a personal, emotional and exceptional journey, which warrants the representation of their lives to be included, purely because of who they are, what they did and what they mean to me.

Personally I find all of this  most interesting and wonderful.
For someone that is largely chained to the concrete jungle to 'pay the man' this is so refreshing. Please keep going!

One day, the shackles will break and I will visit some of these fantastic places.

Indeed!!! Some people 'feel' the rain,,, others just get wet!

05 July 2021

I went to the local hospital in Livingstone, swab taken for Covid test.

Then Baronavich took us for a drive.......
