Bunking work on a Friday - Ride Reports!!!

We can miss the tollgate Chrissie. If we meet in Barberton, we can ride all the way down to Kaapmuiden, or we can maybe go to Spookdorp instead of Malelane. I have not been ghere before. Maybe laeveller can meet us in Barberton, and Ican and I will come from Nelspruit also and then meet you and Bosparra there?

I am talking about next Friday. This coming Friday I am not in the Slowveld

I have previously looked at rides around Malelane, but didn't find much. Will consult Google Earth and see. Just that bloody toll gate! Especially with Bosparra who insists on paying!  :imaposer:
Franscois, let us know when you're here, would be great to go for a ride with you, haven't seen you for ages! Where are you staying when you're here?
As for picking up Broomie, I usually only drop her once every 19 months.   and that's what you guys are there for, to help pick up!

RIDE REPORT - FRIDAY 16 AUGUST:

Ok, I promised I'd do a small RR for our latest, and so far best attended 'Bunking work on a Friday ride', so here it is.

In attendance:
Bosparra, ican, Chrissie B, Pieter Visser, Draadwerk, Chopper Pilot, Lycan, Macjohnw and Jesse (he was Arc de Triumph and then changed it to XC Perfeksie).

We had agreed to all meet at the Lovely Jubley at 11h00, but some of us had more time than others, so Ican and I met Bosparra and Pieter at Pieter's house early in the morning. Then we talked sh!t and tried to decide how to pass the time until it was time to meet the others.  It was then decided to do a pre-ride to warm up.  So we left Barberton in the direction of Kaapmuiden, turned off at Diggers Retreat and then onto the Noordkaap Road, where I dropped my broom at a previous Bunking ride!  But to my mind it was much easier this time, and Broomie stayed shiny side up.  Bosparra maintains it was the same except for the bit where I had my hiccup.  Ah well, if he says so it must be right, he's a man, he must know!  

From there we rode on the R40 back towards Barberton and pulled into Jubley just before 10h00, in time to have a bite to eat before the others arrived.

Jesse was the first to arrive, but we really didn't expect everyone else to actually make it!  Next thing we heard the roar of bikes and the rest arrived.  After some chit chat, I finally chased the guys on so we can go and ride... but men being men, they decided they have to go back into Barberton first to get 'Medicine'.  Once again it was a mission to get this lot away from Bottle Store, but finally we got going again.  (Geez, you guys are worse than a bunch of women!  eepwall

Jesse and I waited for ever at the Josefsdal 4-Way Stop for the others and eventually they arrived and we did the twisties up towards the Badplaas/Oshoek gravel road.  But once there some of us waited for ages again... we were getting worried as half of our group was missing.  They finally arrived and it turns out some of the guys were stopped for reckless riding down Sheba Rd and almost got escorted to jail!  Luckily the kind cop let them go...  :snorting:

Once again all the 'tannies' had to have chit chats and refreshments, but finally we were on the way.  I had agreed to stay behind Draadwerk, as I thought I was the slowest rider!  But Bosparra and Pieter ended up having another smoke break and ended up behind me.  I really tried to stay behind Draadwerk, but he was going too slow, even by my standards (sawwy  and eventually I passed him and joined the others who had already arrived at Diepgezet/Msoli Mine.

Some of the guys suggested we find the waterfall and check it out, but after having gone down two wrong turns where I couldn't turn my Broom around on my own (thanks for the help ican), I decided not to follow the others down yet another alleyway and went to park off in the shade with ican and Draadwerk until they finished playing.

Once again there was a lot of chit chat, but eventually it was time to move on again.  Draadwerk and Jesse had to be back in Nelspruit by late avie, so off we went towards Badplaas.

The road between Diepgezet and Badplaas is partially tarred, but there is still a nice dirt highway where some of the guys had some top speed fun and even I managed to get to 110/120kph!  At one point I had a red GSA behind me, but then I lost him...

After going through the townships (irritating as we had to go really slowly there) Bosparra and I arrived at where Chopperpilot and ican were waiting.  Jesse had already left as he was running late.  The others took very long and were were getting a bit worried, but eventually a message came through that Lycan had a puncture and they were busy fixing it. 

Finally the rest of the crew arrived, just to discover that Lycan's rear wheel was flat again.  So out came the repair kits and the manne got to work.  Of course this also entailed refreshments, talking k@k and some BMW vs KTM ragging.  Now that Jesse and his Triumph were gone, it was a case of Beemers having the upper hand over the only 2 KTM 990's and my little Africa Twin (although no one dared say anything against her  :biggrin: ).

Finally they were ready and we put our kit on.... but no, it was not to be!  As ican got back to his KTM, he discovered his rear wheel was flat too!  I thought it was hilarious, first he's ripping off the Beemers and then.... and also, Lycan and ican are both Francois, so we came to the conclusion it's better not to take anymore Francois' with on rides. ot:

2 1/2 hours later we were eventually ready to hit the road again, the sun was setting and we did Badplaas pass in the dark! Eventually the 3 Barbietowners and 1 GP safely rolled into Barberton and straight to Mario's Pub for some well deserved refreshments and grub. 

But that was not the end of the saga for the Francois clan... ican's tyre was flat again when we wanted to leave the pub and he had to take my Broom to go fetch car and trailer (hey, at least you got to ride a decent bike for a change > )

But Lycan didn't fare much better, apparently his tyre also went pap again 25kms before Nelspruit!  So he limped home on a flat tyre.

The next morning we all had a reunion at Pit Stop in Nelspruit, where Lycan was having a new tyre fitted, ican got a new tube and MacJohn was resting nicely in the shade!  We also ran into an3as, who was ever so sorry that he didn't join us!  :3some:

So, I think that's it until next time.... maybe even next week  .  I think Shiyalongubo Dam is next on the list!

Was a good ride! I'm glad I decided at the last minute to go! On my way back from badplaas I got off at the Glenthorpe road and went back to Nelspruit that way. Less traffic, dirt, more fun!

Sorry I couldn't stay to help with tyres.

PS, yes I was ArcDeTriumph... But I eventually found the perfect name for my bike  :ricky:
