Wow!

Great episode!

Tough on the 2 guys who ate it. How are they doing now?

Where do you advertise for these rides?
Hoesit Kamanya!

Thanx for the compliment. Glad you watched it. Much appreciated.

The two guys are healing, slowly but surely. We posted the Ride, and Event on social media, but decided to cap the number of riders at 40... still a hell of a lot of bikes to manage during a social ride.

These weren't the only incidents we had on the trip, though... there's more to come.

It was one of the most traumatic trips I've done in my life. Next time we take the general public along, we are riding shorter distances.

Dont you check the guys riding abilities before taking them along? Asking for a friend.
I think my average riding speed is 1/4 of what you guys ride.

... I watch / follow a couple of the local groups rides on Y T .... I am "stunned" by the speeds the guys are doing ... maybe is just the way the clips are edited, but I agree with your observation ... it's a race to get to the next "appointment / place"

Ja the distances per day are way above my stamina too... ;-)

I will make the same comment I have made on the channel here, something like this:

1: Wish the injured guys a speedy recovery.
2: Adv riding is a calculated risk we are willing to take
3: I am very surprised that after all these previous injuries especially Fanie which is a star of the show that there is no medic riding sweep in a support vehicle.
Yes medics cost money and did not work for free like I did on these adv rides.
I have done various trips as support on my own bike with my own medical gear.
No unfortunately I am not available anymore since I have dropped my registration but sure there are guys out there that will do this at a very reasonable rate.
You have had huge groups, and I bet you that these riders would have contributed towards a medic.

Deal is; I crinched at the level of care the man got with the compound fracture. I thought it would be a miracle if he does not end up with osteomyelitis or loose his arm!!
First of all that riding jacket should have been cut clear to reveal the wound, then sterile fluid like sterile water/saline/ringers should flush it clean and then you make a ring bandage and you saturate and keep it saturated all the time. You don’t want that bone to dry out or become septic.
Then you splint in position while securing a distal pulse.
That poor man missed the golden hour by a mile.

Anyhow; sounds judge-mental now.
All I’m asking is reconsider your options here before taking any Tom, Dick or Harry on a ride (pun intended)

Other than that I love footpeg dairies and will keep watching.
I love the banter, riding and places visit.
it makes for good content

We ask, we get an answer, we believe the feedback.

I think any barometer of riding ability is a very subjective one. You're probably a 3/4...

Editing is key. If we showed you an entire day of all the other guys riding at 40kmph... very few people would have the patience to sit through it.

When traveling great distances to get to a destination at a certain time... YES of course you have to ride according to the schedule. The distances for these transit days weren't actually that long. 550km per day for a tar/gravel Liason is easily do-able.

Thanx for watching!

True. Medics are great. We do have Medics at the official Event we are going to. This is a ride to get to the event. Thats what everyone agreed to. We don't mind anyone joining us on the ride there, but they understood that this is not the Adventure Event we are hosting, just Transit.

I would like to see how many guys book a Medic in a support vehicle to join them en-route to attend the Wild Dogs Bash. Which is exactly what this is.

Tom Dick and Harry all said they are good enough riders, and signed a waiver. But then again... we all have our moments when we make mistakes and drop our bikes. All of us.

Thanx for watching! We really appreciate it.

Was about to say the same, there is no ways me and my wife can get a medic for each and every outride we do, or for when we out on a ride with a group of friends. It's like @TVB said, Adv riding is a calculated risk we are willing to take and accident happens, live with it, or lock yourself up in the house and make sure you don't slip and fall in the shower.

Anyhow, let the show carry on. 👌

Oh, and.....
Thanks for calling it what it is.

@Fugley definitely is a STAR. Totally. He keeps denying it, but he is. Not a very sexy one, but a STAR nonetheless.

Thanks for putting light on the subject Pierre, makes sense now.
Riders joining and signing an indemnity will obviously cover you in the event of loss and injury.
And yes we all make mistakes and fall, especially when we get tired and try to beat the clock.
Glad to hear you got medics on the actual event.
Have a good one👍

Thanx @TVB!

Just as an aside... none of these riders fell because they were tired or chasing the clock.
The first one at half-past-three on the first day 80km away from the overnight spot - the bike was just too heavily laden.
The second one was before eleven in the morning on day two - purely due to lack of experience on gravel.

But, that's a lesson learned...
People keep nagging us to join the ride. I guess it's natural... we all want to be part of something that looks lekker. And we would really like to ride with our supporters at least once a year, but next time it's going to be smaller and less... of everything.

That's why many of us "older" WD riders travel in smaller groups or even solo..... The logistics are so much easier to manage.

Of course experience and common sense is an important part of such trips.... Never ride further /faster than your experience allows, and never over load the bike. 😜

Thanks for pointing that out
Like you say... This is how we learn.(y)
