I go riding solo quite often, mostly in the desert area around Swakopmund. There have been times where i almost got lost in the dunes while it is getting dark, or go explore a new track and then get disorientated in the mist etc. I always tell my wife where, in general, i am going to ride. But, if i did not make it out of the dunes that one day before dark there's no way in hell anyone will find me. Point is, i think it wise to get a phone based tracker that works on GPS, not cell network alone due to reception limitations.
So, does anyone know of a reliable tracker app for an iphone (operating iOs 8.1.3) that i can use for this purpose? Ideally i need to able to switch the tracking feature on before i go ride and turn it off afterwards (just so she can't stalk me the whole time... :biggrin
