No wonder he did not respond to my sms's today! Glad they are safe

No, all photos taken with a camera.
Ja, he either has a phone or a camera in his hand at all times, but not whilst riding. I think the bike is more than a handfull for him.  ;D
It seems that he landed in Gauteng at 5ish last night and went straight to bed.

Just spoke to Rian, they are at Deon's house and he sits with a laptop that is very slow.

Is there anyone that can assist him in getting this laptop sorted, IT guys, please. You can get them on the nr above which is Deon's nr.

Cheers

Hi all,

Quick entry from a "Pay as you go" Dongle on Deon's laptop, which is older and slower than most.  :peepwall:

I have taken well over 1500 photos so far and have set about 280 aside to upload to Photofuckit when I have fast internet, and a few days to do the full write up of this ride, which has been an awesome adventure so far.

As a certain Mr Maverick once told me..... The adventure starts when shit starts going wrong..... :ricky:

The bloody mobile saga started when I texted a mate Mike "Touchdown69" about 90km from home yesterday to let him know our movements, and did not zip up my trouser pocket when we set off again, so I suspect the phone is in a many flat pieces somewhere on the M3 Tollroad.

Today I  took a HTC Wildfire I had bought for Deon, in to a guy in Nigel to unlock it from a UK Vodafone contract.... come back in one hour with R270 he said..... an hour later he said come back tomorrow.
Then an hour later he phoned me on Deons number to say that if I wanted it unlocked tomorrow it would be R650 and if I wanted to wait till Monday it would only be R450.

So I told him screw that, I will collect the phone tomorrow and buy some cheap phone to use here in SA till I leave from Cape Town on the 29th.

Africa ehhh??

Bought about R200's worth of fruit this morning, as the fruit is always sweeter in Africa, and I cannot just eat meat.
Also bought some 35mm thick T-Bone steaks at Meat Mecca.  :drif: :drif:

I also want to again say a massive than you to everyone who has touched us in one or another way so far.

It has been a humbling and heart warming experience so far.

LouisXander, dankie vir vanoggend se oproep.

Maveric called me from the UK this afternoon, he has managed to source a brand new R80GS rear shock through SuperFoxie in Cape Town which we will buy and get couriered up here tomorrow to fit to the bike woooot !!  :thumleft:

Deon and I were thinking of maybe doing a real Bring (your own shit inclucing some charka and ice) and Braai, here at his place on Friday evening early-ish 6pm for 6.30pm for any WD's who could be bothered to come over to his place in Dunnottar.  (He has a double bed and a single bed for the motherless, or long distance traveller if needed, and some floor space in the lounge for your own mattress)  I also have to say up front, he does not take shit from even me, abusing his home  :patch: as he lives as a bachelor here and everything is perfect in typical military style.  He just mentioned to me as well, no messy drinkers welcome as he has wall to wall carpets, SERIOUSLY.

HIS NUMBER TO CONFIRM FOR FRIDAY AND GET DIRECTIONS IS : 0833302059
Right, time to make some tea.....

That's cool Woody.

Deon knows I need, really need to come to your place to see where the magic happens.

Tomorrow he has to hang around here, as the two rull up doors he bought today, to replace the older ones, should be delivered here.

Bly alles het mooi "vlot" verloop sover, en dat julle veilig is by Dozer se pozzie

Well, I have a phone again.... R220 cheapy. Perfect.

Deon bought two roll up garage doors yesterday and they were delivered at about 14.00 today.
By 19.00 the old doors and frames were removed and the new ones fitted, and dinner cooked inbetween...... spaghetti bollognese, as Deon only eats meat

Tomorrow the new shock should get here at some point, get fitted and then the bike will be ready for more action.

Hopefully some guys will pop over for a braai here, directions to be given when you text to my number or Deon's number above.

Saturday we should get over to see Woody1's setup that has me fascinated, after a visit to the family farm between Rustenburg and Swartruggens.

Now for a couple of serious Brandy and Pepsi Max's

Later dudes.

Morning Grizz,
I won't make a braai today, but we will see what we can do over the weekend.  8) i need to go to the factory in Nigel,  just too busy!

By the way, did you order this weather in specially??

Morning Welsh,  Weather? What weather..... ??

You are starting to sound like Goose in France. :peepwall:

You have phone numbers.

Tonights braai is on, I think so far only Woody1 may be here, unless he gets called out.

Plan is to hit the road at 06.00 tomorrow to get to Rustenburg etc, pop in at a buddy on the  way back at Menlyn (I think) and then to go to Woody1's place in the afternoon to check out his woodwork setup.

Good to see you're enjoying yourself mate.....

So many phones, so little time! What would you do without one.....

All good at home, managed to get a good price at the scrap yard for all those old number plates, your welder made it back to mine on your bike (those panniers dent easy though, eh?) and Nicola texted to say she was enjoying the beach in Dubai....

Thought I'd help out and have a go at putting that access door in your garage door. Sorry mate, I'll bring the welder back and have another go.... You'll never notice a thing....

The good news is I've not had to touch your KY since you've been away...

Enjoy mate, see you at Terminal 3...

:peepwall:

Forgot to mention, and I figure it's better you know now...... you know how heavy your bike is, well rather than do a 50 point turn, I decided to move the ‘bus. Boy that thing leaps forward when you start her in gear…. Straight through the garage door! Hence having a go at putting the access door in (I know, no need for thanks though)

Now I would’ve thought the garage door would’ve stopped the thing, but mate that’s a flimsy door you had there. Straight through and into the wood shop…. I kid you not. Lucky none of the cats were in the way I can tell you. Nicola wouldn’t have been laughing then.

Most of the equipment (well hardly any really, but you’re on holiday) is repairable and the good news is your favourite coping saw is only slightly bent.

Micky said he’d shift the stuff that couldn’t be saved and you can pay him when you get back. Thought you said he was a pain? Seemed really helpful to me…

The chap buying the van says not to worry, you and he can have a chat about revaluing it, he said he’d pay more than scrap prices for it, so that’s good.

In case you think it’s all bad news, I’m fine. Bit of a bump on the head, but nothing serious. I did feel a bit sick after though and I didn’t want to bother Nicola who was upstairs with Micky, the bloke buying(?) the bus and Pete (not sure what he was doing there) and so I threw up in your bbq. Nicola said something about don’t worry the cats do that all the time and that you would sort it when you got home?

Oh and the dog’s dead.
