Has anyone done the trail OVER the Rooiberge?

We are busy planning a trip and I saw an intriguing road that goes over the full length of the Rooiberge (see route marked in red on the attached). This road eventually meets up with the Rooiberg Pass on the eastern side of the mountain.

Has anyone done this road yet? I was wondering if (a) it is doable and (b) if the road is open.
