We were on cooking duty. So it's a late evening. Beef curry. Also responsible for breakfast. Long day!

There was a panel interview with some tough questions; who is your front runnning teams? Who would you not like to ride with? What have you two disagreed about? Etc. Then another interview for the cameras.

Then this afternoon we had to get just into our boots and helemts and a cup and meet just in front of the camp near the river bed with our bikes. We were never t looking forward to the surprise. Speculation was everything from having to push bikes through the sand to a hike in that gear. But, we then followed Hardy up onto the plains above Purros and were spread out with about 500m between each person for an hour of solitude!!!!! What an absolute pleasure!

My solitude perch.

What it produced. I've not written in a while.....

A Quest

"Come!", he said, "I have a Quest,
I'm sure you'll understand"
There's amazing journeys to be had
To a magical desert land

And just like that it came to pass
That I'm sitting with my thoughts
Witnessed by ancient sun burnt sands
The journey this Quest has brought

I've been right back to where it began
And far further still than before
With a band of laughing, helping freinds
We've claimed Van Zyls and more

But, much as the sights passed behind
There's been the inner journey too
What I am? where I am?
The big why's and the me with you?

The sun is setting to the biting wind now
And for the moment it's just me and the land I'm in
A pause with my back against the wheel
But lead me on, please more, my African Twin.

How does the process of deciding the winning team work? On what criteria are the teams getting observed?

And how many judges are there?
