Buff
Grey Hound
First off please excuse the pics, they were taken on an older iPhone :-\
The idea was to leave at 8am from the 1 Stop but after waiting for 15min for the KTM rider (Sprocketbek) we finally hit the road. The group up comprised Yami Super 10 (pillioning his laaitie Renier), Deadmeat, Moonhicken, Dave, Ian, Buff, Sprocketbek (he caught up to us in Paarl) and Pote, who join us till Ceres.
Deadmeat optimizes adventure riding!!! He rocks up on a CBX250 (road bike), loaded to the rafters with everything you need for camping including a shade net Respect bud :thumleft:
The trip up was fairly uneventful, except for when Deadmeat missed the breakfast stop just before Ceres and went barrelling towards Oasis without us . He must have had that little 250 flat taps until he eventually realised we weren’t ahead of him and waited at Op-die-berge till we eventually arrived ;D
By the time we reached Oasis the sun was burning holes in us so it was straight for the fridge for a cold one then into the pool for an afternoon of k@kpraat and balbak.
As the day progressed, so the dogs arrived, some in packs, some alone, each one looking more hot and bothered that the next as the temperature ran up into the 40 degrees. A few of the dogs just came through for the day and left later the afternoon, after rehydrating and packing in some meat :thumleft:
Dave’s Super Tenere had picked up a puncture on his German made rear tire so my puncture repair skills were tested. The puncture was repaired but then we noticed that one of the existing plugs was leaking so we pulled that one out to re-plug it. That maybe wasn’t a great idea because the hole was rather large so we had to use 2 plugs for it :-\.
1. Deadmeats Twister (his pic from the Planning a ride link).
2. Moonhicken on her Dakar on Gydo Pass.
3. The ST waiting for Sprocketbek on top of Gydo Pass
