My wife and I have wanted to get out of Joburg for a long time. Both of our jobs are 100% work from home now (have been for two years) so we're thinking it's a good time to start putting the puzzle pieces together to take the leap in a year or so.
Franschoek looks like an ideal spot. Property prices/rentals are a little pricey but affordable and the two kids (4y and 9m now) can go to Bridge House, which costs the same as a semi-private school in Joburg.
There's a lot Franschoek doesn't have (big shopping malls etc) but we don't enjoy that stuff anyway. Paarl and Stellenbosch are less than an hour away if needed anyway.
There's fibre, rates & taxes are low, crime is low, the locals are lekker...
It all seems a little too good though. What am I missing?
