So the day is drawing near - YoungGSer and I are taking Lump (my GSA) and Charlie (his GS) on a ride around the Southern & Eastern Cape - and perhaps a few more places if the time doesn't get finished before we are!
Plan is to leave Gautie-land on the 11th November (Linkin Park on the 10th...) for Parys - then Monday will see us heading south-west-ish, following the Vaal river on the dirt roads as far as Bloemhof.
Next stage is De Aar, Beufort West, Prince Albert, Swartberg Pass (including Die Hel), George via the old dirt Montagu Pass and the back road to Phantom Pass for a rest day in Knysna....
At this point the "plan" such as it is, is a little up in the air - wish list includes the dirt road from Knysna via Diepwalle & Avontuur to Uniondale, then Baviaanskloof, down to J-Bay area.
Next would be a blast through the Eastern Cape to Elliot, Bastervoed, various other passes and on to Underberg.
Sani is next, followed by the western route around the edge of Katse dam, hook up some dirt to exit Lesotho at the Monotsha Border post, into Golden Gate, Harrismith, more passes to Chelmsford Dam.
Last section is Chelmsford to Jhb via Newcastle & Standerton...
We have about 14 days or so available - the plan is very loose and no booking are being made. Tent and matress are in the luggage and we are going to see if we can hook up some passes and dirt for a lekker ride of approx 4000km or so - we shall see.....
Anything we "cannot miss" en route that you fine fellows and ladies want to share?
