We all know about the vibrations causing the bars and lugs to crack. I have Givi high bars on mine and the cracks have started on the lugs. I don't much like the bars... to much hard-mounted metal that resonates through the vibrations. Don't think they going to be worth much in a crash either and for me their main use is to attach my crash-bar bags. For that I only need the bottom section.

So the plan :

1. Cut away the top section
2. Brace the bottom section accross the enjin.
3. Try and find the high resonance point and dampen it with a rubber damper. At this stage it will be on the section that braces accross the enjin
4. A focal point of the vibration seems to be the lugs attaching to the frame tube. Soft mount it.
5. Retain the hard mount at the bottom of the enjin to pick up the vibration.
6. Add some extra bracing for the bag mount.

What one needs to do is pick up the vibration(its there... nothing you can do about it), then try and find the point of highest resonance and dampen it.

As we go along I'll demonstrate with pics. I'm flying blind, as I don't have the use of testing equipmet, so its trial and error. Any input will be appreciated.
