Hey check these pictures out guys, one of the last really truly difficult passes into Lesotho has now been concreted over. We were on a trip from a weekend at Caledon Mountain lodge and 'snuck' into Lesotho over the Monontsha pass road as we have done often before because there is still no border post on the Lesotho side and once again, one of the party did not have his passport with him again (Hentie, shut your face, yes it was HIM again), and so we were prepared to tackle the extreme dirt pass down to the river again, but guess what, the whole pass is now fully built into a concreted road. Look at the pictures, its like a flipping free-way, perfect smooth surface, massive retaining walls, flood culverts, concrete crash barrier walls, the lot.
How the heck can Lesotho build a full on free-way type road like this in one of the most inaccessible corners of the country but South Africa cannot even fix a pothole in Randburg????
Has anyone else been on this trip and seen this road yet?
Is anyone else planning to go here again any time soon?
