Thanks for an excellent ride report from all who contributed.
I am so tempted to join a future tour like this but for the KLR650, I wish I were 10 years younger.
Maybe when the CRF450 becomes available I might reconsider.
Same age as you, - overweight  and unfit BUT i will do this trip - Join me........
Maybe Hardy should do a only 50+ allowed trip for some of us - Problem is the backup vehicles might be fast than us  :lol8:
Oh and i have decided that it will be on a KLR650 Fugly.......  :3some:

The majority of the April 19' crowd is 50 plus Schalk. Jupiter or Gerrard named it the Geriatric trip.
There are still three spots open on that trip.
Your bike is perfect.
Cool Count me in please....

Will put your name on - Check under planning a ride section for the April trip, opening post

I might have missed it somewhere, but how did the Dakar do?

Hi Hennie

Wow, Wow, Wow.
I am sold. What a great RR. Thank you for sharing and your pics are brilliant. I hope that I will be able to catch just a little of the beauty as you did in these pictures.

1. What camera are you using and what lenses did you carry if its an SLR?
2. How did you carry the camera?
3. What is the range of that 500 Husky? It seemed that you where filling up all the time in the first couple of days and after van Zyls it seemed like a lot less filling was being done.

[member=15711]hardy[/member]. Putting myself down for April 19. This RR is a great selling tool and after meeting you in Jan, the hospitality that you, Chantal and Gene showed us and all the stories you told us I wanted to join you for one of your trips. This finally put that nail in the coffin and made me commit.

Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to read it!

1. My pics were taken with Canon G1X with built in zoom. Also used my iPhone 7 Plus
Hannes had a Sony compact digital camera if I remember correctly and Ri used a Canon DSLR with kit lenses by the looks of it.
Willie’s setup was a Mavic Pro Drone, Dji Gimble mounted camera and a Canon DSLR setup, the details of which I’m not sure

2. I carried the camera in my jacket pocker - it’s fairly compact, although not ideal as a fall would’ve most certainly damaged the camera and my hip

3. Range is about 160km. i needed to refuel most days.

You are going to love the trip!

Geluk Cansuis, sien die report is waar hy hoort, wel gedaan :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

julle advertensie werk hou aan!!!!

verwag maar binnekort n planning a ride thread van my kant af.

iets in die lyn van 4 dae hit and run van Kaokoland en ek wil VZP doen. so basies meeste bang for your buck (oftewel bang for your time).

We're doing exactly exactly that in August, although to come up all the way from SA for just a quick in and out doesn't do that region justice.  I will keep an eye out for your planning thread!

Thanks for an awesome RR to everyone that contributed, really fantastic reading and awesome pics!
