We had an excellent ride and a bad experience this morning. It is a friend's 59th birthday. So we decided to have a surprise breakfast run to Nylsvley, the world famous Ramsar Wetlands between Nylstroom and Naboom...

The ride there is enjoyable, with some good dirt road riding to be had. The first problem, they don't want bikes inside. I can understand it- disturbing the world famous feathered friends. But there are two gates, the first one, then the restaurant 100 m further on, then a second gate into the conservation area.

Finally some sense prevailed, and they allowed us to ride up to the restaurant.
We had a booking for this morning for breakfast. When we ordered the filter coffee on the menu, they only had Ricoffee available. They also had enough provisions to give 3 of our party of 5 breakfast.
It is sad, they do have an excellent location, they have beautiful facilities- government must have spent millions of our tax money here. But they have no tourists. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday morning. And the staff is incompetent.
So- by all means go have a cup of tea at Nylsvley. But for all practical purposes- stay away on your bike.
For a ride report of this morning, you may, if you really want to, head over to my blog at https://vosperdruiter.wordpress.com/2014/07/05/a-good-ride-and-a-bad-experience/
