The 4 of us set out Sat morning, S.P riding a DRZ400 with screen, Pastrana, DRZ, The 70's Show on the Yamie 660 Tenere and
me on the XR650R.
The Route
Did the usual Elandsrivier Rd to Patensie, had brekie and were off. The road towards Humansdorp and then crossed over towards Kabeljous and into JBay. Aston Bay causeway, Paradise Beach through to St Francis Bay.
The riding was easy, on good graded roads, we did this ride about two years last. Had a refreshment stopover next to a diary farm and watched the farmer herd his cattle with two Border Collies and was invited for coffee and rusks if we were to pass by the following day.
Two guys passed us on the corner, one on a XRR and a BMW 450X, we got a nod as they sped off! We got to Kareedouw as the sun was setting and stayed over at Die Plaaswerf, the accom was fantastic, good food, cold beers and would recommend to anyone passing through.
The Route Home
Left Sunday morning after a good Brekie and headed past Assegaaibosch up into the mountains.
The 70's show
S.P
Pastrana
Waiting for the crew. It was great weather, good roads and stunning scenery, a bit dusty but thats what its all about!
The 70's show, he earned that name because of his fashion sense, or lack thereof, his Tenere started disintergrating and thankfully S.P our in house mechanic sorted it all out, he says he is going to sell the repair patent to Yamaha!
We followed the plotted route and ended up on a twee spoor road and becoming a bush path with thick tree canopys and awesome views.
The GPS was happy, so we proceeded.
Gecco
We got back to Patensie, washed the dust down at Tolbos and back to PE, along Elandsrivier.
It was not the longest ride ever, but the crap spoken, joking and four buds riding dirt together, is always a blast!
me on the XR650R.
