Naand Honde,

I recently bought a R1150GS from one of the forum members here.
Absolutely love the bike.

Unfortunately the gearbox let me down the other day. The shift lever started feeling soft, up and down, still working for about 5 minutes after I noticed this, then nothing. When it stopped working it was in NEUTRAL. Had to leave the bike in a farmers stoor and picked it up on Monday.

Looking under the skirts, the shift lever linkage seems fine, the shift arm is engaging on the splines properly and I can see the shaft turn. It feels like there is WAY to much travel in the lever, and no noise or resistance from inside the gearbox.
As far as I can tell there is no adjustment or repairs to be made to the box without opening it up. Whilst I am in there its probably an opportune time to replace bearings, seals etc.

What do you okes think? Anybody encountered the same problem? Hopefully one of you will tell me to just MOER her hard on the left tit and she will be good as new.

Vital Stats: 2002 R1150GS, non ABS, 49kkm

Groete, Richard
