Family member screwed up. There is no insurance and any repair?maintenance bill will be for my account.

What is my options?

We can probably sell the wreck for around R35k. Its a 3.0 TDCI with 230k km on, very popular bakkie/engine.

bakkie runs, radiator fubar though and steering wheel 'reach' broken (its loose, drops to your lap, but bakkie steers fine)
Cab also seems to have slightly moved but chassis should still be straight.

my thinking is to buy this bakkie (just because I have no intention fixing it for someone else mahala)
put one of those cheaper pipe bush bumpers on, that should be around R7k, side fenders and bonnet another R6k for parts, add R4k for lights, another R4k for drama and maybe R10k for painting (more than just front end)
That's R31k, adding R10k for nicer wheels and another R5-10k on exhaust/software that should be around R75k and I will have a pretty decent badass 4x2. But not a lot of contingency in that budget?

Stupid idea? rather cut my losses and get rid of it?
I am not useless mechanically but will have to get most things done, not do it myself
