Guys

Pistonpete (Outriders) in Cape Town has kindly provided his Inmarsat Isatphone Pro (T's & C's apply) for usage by WD's.

I will be taking it with on my trip to Namibia, not really for myself but it gives my wife additional peace of mind since I will be riding solo.

The phone is in excellent condition, I have just updated the firmware to the latest version and am in the process of recharging airtime.

Airtime conditions at the moment (1.3 units = 1 minute talk time, SMS are 0.5 units per 160 characters)

Current costs (excluding VAT):

25 units = US$ 39 with a 30 day airtime window.
50 units = US$ 75 with a 90 day airtime window.
100 units = US$ 125 with a 180 day airtime window.
250 units = US$ 275 with a 180 day airtime window.
500 units = US$ 495 with a 1 year airtime window.
1000 units = US$ 950 with a 1 year airtime window.
2500 units = US$ 2,395 with a 1 year airtime window.

This means you can recharge to suit your needs, i.e. pocket/trip.

The contacts list on the phone does have a few emergency services listed already, mostly Western Cape based.
I have added the Namibian service I feel are relevant, as well as International SOS which also does evac's for Discovery Health.

It would be cool is guys can maybe list other emergency numbers here in international format (services which might be relevant on any Southern African tour), I would be happy to add these to the contacts list.

As I said, use it, don't use it...

Phone will be with me till mid January 2015.

T's & C's to be discussed directly with Pistonpete.

Edit: Firmware updated, airtime recharged, tested - works perfectly well  :thumleft:
