I was riding my bike on the N1 South near Atterbury today when I came across several steel plates scattered across the highway (about 1m x 1m in size). I managed to miss them but the car in front drove over one. This sent the plate flying missing me by inches. I went ice cold for a few seconds and was still rattled long after! The plates must have come from irresponsible trucks not properly securing their loads. Just last week a woman was killed on the Moloto Road by a steel rod flying off a truck and hitting her in the head in the passenger seat of the car she was traveling in.
