side stand made of.....?

What is the side stand on my ktm LC8 made of ? aluminium, chromoly, or normal steel, anyone know? I want to weld a round plate to the bottom of it for parking on soft surfaces. If it is alu or chromo, I?ll just use a mechanical fastener (like a screw).
