Sir Lowry's Pass - can it be done OFF tar?

I rode from CT to Villiersdorp this Sat (on my 450), overnighted, and came back, using as many dirt roads /tracks as I could, and I loved every minute!

Question is: are there any legal 'sneaky routes' up or down Sir Lowry's?

I got half-way down on an amazing track, then ran into a HEAVILY gated pumping-relay station (not the main pumping facility), so that turned me back....

2 other promising routes petered out, so anyone...????

I did take a long, hard look at the railway track, but thought better of it!
